The scheme is a graphic, hierarchical and simplified representation of the most important study contents and their interrelationships.
A SCHEME ALWAYS HAS TO:
- Go headed by the title of the text to which it corresponds (topic or section)
- Contain all important information.
- Elaborate with short, concrete sentences using the keywords of the topic we are going to study.
- At a glance, all ideas should be able to be read and their structure seen.
- Made on a single sheet.
- Be able to be archived.
STEPS TO CARRY OUT A GOOD STUDY OUTLINE
- Before we begin we must have underlined the topic we are going to study.
- Choose the type of scheme that we are going to use.
- As I have already mentioned, economy of terms. Short, very concise phrases and keywords
- Featured presentation of main ideas.
- Hierarchical order in the presentation of those ideas.

TYPES OF SCHEMES
-
LINEAR SCHEME
It is the one used to structure topics with different content and that establish few subdivisions between the concepts that are developed. The information that we are going to study is ordered by numerical, letter or mixed codes.
-
GRAPHIC OUTLINE
It is very useful for classifying information when several subdivisions can be established , from the most general to the most particular. When memorizing on graphic diagrams, visual memory is involved, in a special way, so this type of diagram also contributes to improving memory. And generally it is is that more is used to study.
-
DIAGRAMS
The contents of the study are organized from top to bottom , using arrows to show the relationships between the different concepts or data. They are very useful to represent the development of a process or the evolution of a concept.
To study History, timelines are also a form of diagram that we will deal with in another post a little later.
Making a good outline is a fundamental part of the study . Don’t be afraid to go from an A4 sheet to an A3, to use different colors, to add pictures or anything that stimulates your visual memory. How to study is part of an individual development that involves a personal technique .
Use the outline that you have developed to write a good summary, so that the outline serves as a script for the summary to take your own words and organize the ideas of the topic you have to study.
