No one should have the right to judge the high or low intelligence of someone (and less of a child), since intelligence is not something that can be measured objectively. There are several types of intelligences and their characteristics can vary greatly from one to another.

The theory of multiple intelligences tells us that children have a large number of very strong areas and other weaker areas, which vary and differ from one person to another.

Main types of intelligence in children

  • Logical intelligence: this type of intelligence is applied when the child performs well in solving problems , using calculations and logical thoughts. These types of profiles are associated with the so-called logical intelligence. For example, if your child asks you to tell him a fictional story and stops for a moment in what is fantasy, asking for a logical and rational explanation and rejecting what seems too fantastic or illogical, he will surely end up being able to stand out in studies related to mathematics .
  • Linguistic intelligence : it is the child’s ability to use speech and its meaning in the appropriate place and context, for example, if your child uses precise words in response to a certain situation, it is likely that the child has linguistic intelligence. Children with this type of intelligence will have the privilege of expressing themselves in a remarkable way and will be good listeners.
  • Musical intelligence: when we say that a child has a good musical ear, it is because he can clearly distinguish different sounds such as people’s voices, the types of instruments used in songs, etc. Of course, children who are characterized by musical intelligence are likely to end up excelling, in one way or another, in the world of music.
  • Motor intelligence: it occurs when the child has the ability to easily control the movements of their own body in an elegant and fluid way. You can excel in the world of gymnastics or dance.
  • Natural intelligence: the child who tends to discover the nature of his surroundings, knowing for example the types of insects and plants that surround him, is a child with a natural intelligence. If we observe that our child is looking at the ants in the garden with enthusiasm, he will eventually have the powerful capacity of observation.
  • Self-intelligence: If your child can easily learn from his mistakes, as well as the development and consequences that his actions can have, he has personal intelligence. Children who have personal intelligence tend to study philosophy or psychology.
  • Visual intelligence: it is the ability of a child to imagine shapes and colors, creating a fantasy world around him, also using it for his own games or stories. Children who have this type of intelligence are trained to be great visual artists.
  • Emotional and social intelligence: this type includes emotional intelligence and social intelligence. If your child is able to characterize his feelings and express them while also understanding external emotions, he has a type of emotional intelligence. If he has fluent communication with others, breaking the barriers of shame, as well as a great capacity to sympathize with other children who are around him, he has good social intelligence.
