Having knowledge about the development of children from birth is important, as it allows parents to know if this is carried out in their children in the appropriate way or, if not, measures must be taken to solve it. In this article we will briefly see the main stages of child development , mainly at the physical level.
Up to 3 years
The first month of life is a time of great importance, as it marks this entire stage. In those four weeks there is a transition between the absolute dependence of his mother within the womb, towards his life in an independent way, which conditions physical development to a certain degree. For example, the skull bones are not yet welded, and will not be for more than a year. Even the nose is flattened for the first few days because the cartilage can mold.
The physical development of the child from 0 to 3 years is faster than during the rest of his life. Both its size and the shape of its body are changing at an astonishing speed. The body begins to be proportioned with respect to the head, which during this stage is much larger in proportion to that of an adult, and the aspect becomes thinner.
As for the psychomotor development of the child , skills are acquired little by little. At the beginning the movements do not make sense and you may even hit yourself accidentally. Little by little, spatial perception is coordinated, first with the control of the arms and hands, and then by starting to walk upright.
3 to 6 years
The child’s motor development can already be considered mature at this stage, although there are some aspects that are being perfected, such as walking in a straight line, following a marked path or learning to run with stability.
Growth is still high, although it slows down a bit compared to the previous stage. Instead, muscle development and coordination are becoming apparent, which allows them to improve their immune system.
In this stage the nutritional guidelines are set. That is why it is important to help them obtain the necessary nutrients that will mark their entire life.
At the end of this stage the child is able to reflect real life scenes in detail in drawings, going from simple geometric shapes to more representative and recognizable elements.
Up to 12 years
From the age of 6 the child is fully formed physically in a basic sense, although many changes are still missing until adulthood. The physical development of the 6 to 12-year-old child causes him to experience a series of alterations that can lead to complex classics, so it is normal to see them try to hide some feature that seems abnormal and disproportionate to them, such as the ears. When this stage is finished, adolescence is entered, a step prior to becoming a physically and mentally complete adult if everything develops normally.
