We celebrated Safe Kids Day today with a fabulous, fun-filled event in Los Angeles. More than 500 parents and kids boogied on the dance floor, scrambled through the obstacle course and took pictures with Lassie as we joined together to celebrate kids, prevent injuries and save lives.
Celebrities turned out in style to support Safe Kids. Drew Barrymore and Rhea Wahlberg read their favorites children’s books to guests. Cobi Jones played soccer with the Futboleros, while Malin Akerman slid down our giant slide. Donald Faison broke it down on the dance floor and Mark-Paul Gosselaar practiced swim safety in our giant ball pool. Neal McDonough and Alysia Montano tried their luck at carnival games. Mark Wahlberg, Gavin Rossdale, Keyshawn Johnson, Rebecca Budig, Gunnar Peterson, Will Kopelman, Christie Lynn Smith, Catriona Gosselaar, Ruve McDonough, Louis Montano and Asia Monet Ray also enjoyed exploring all the activities featured at the event.
Kids raced each other through our obstacle course, explored our fire truck inside and out, made spin art t-shirts and got their faces painted. Parents learned tips to keep kids safe in the home, on the road and during sports and play. Everyone enjoyed taking photos with Lassie.
Many thanks to our amazing supporters, including presenting sponsor Nationwide, founding sponsor Johnson & Johnson, FedEx, Chevrolet, Kidde, Tide, the GM Foundation, The Guess Foundation, American Airlines, Britax, Safety 1st, Scholastic, Mattel Foundation, Bell, and Abex. We are also grateful for the incredible dedication of our host committee members and especially the host committee co-chairs, Dr. Peter and Laurie Waldstein. With their help, and the gracious support of individuals around the country, the Safe Kids Day campaign has raised more than $1 million to keep kids safe from preventable injuries. You can donate here to help us reach our goal of $1.2 million.
But we’re not done yet. Our fantastic coalitions continue to host local Safe Kids Day events across the country. Check here to find a local event near you.
